Community Grants Manager
Researches and writes grants that will benefit the foundation and their goal of helping those with sickle cell.
Applies community health expertise to Community Grants Programs. Manages peer review process for Request for Application-driven grants. Manages grant initiation, annual progress and financial reporting, change requests, and close out for assigned portfolio of funded community grants.
Serves as primary point of contact for grant applicants and recipients. Supports grants management team in application and peer review processes. Coordinates submission of required documents, grant contracting, legal requests, and vetting related to award initiation.
Director, Public Policy (Washington, D.C.)
Based in the Washington, DC office, the Director, Public Policy is responsible for developing, directing, and implementing the Heart of Gold Sickle Cell Foundation of Northern Virginia,Inc. (legislative, regulatory, and advocacy activities.
Works closely with managing advocacy & legislative activities with other organizations
Shared Services Support Coordinator (Richmond, Virginia)
As part of the heart of gold IT Shared Services Helpdesk team, will provide front line support for end-users of affiliate shared service applications – including but not limited to Peoplesoft Financials, SalesForces.com, Convio/Common Ground, and Selectica. Resolves basic issues, will attend meetings and other functions located in Richmond that require a representative from the foundation. Report back to the board on all activities that were attended.
Accountant 2, General Ledger – (Alexandria, VA)
Basic Function Provides financial accounting support to the treasure and Heart of Gold function by managing balance sheet asset and liability accounts. Assists with audit schedules, annual reports, and monthly accounting close process. Reviews and revises accounting transactions for accuracy.
The Heart of Gold Foundation recognizes that we are only as good as our team. With this being a fairly new organization, we are looking for a few good volunteers that are not only excited but passionate about the work that this foundation is planning to accomplish.
Are you a good listener? Do you consider yourself a supportive person? Are you able to show empathy to others? We are looking for a counselor that is able to have an listening ear and supportive shoulder to our clients needs. Many times all a person need is someone to talk to. Requirement: A degree in Psychology or Counseling is required.
Do you work out? Are you a healthy eater? Are you up to date on all of the programs that require individuals to maintain a healthy lifestyle? Can you swim? Sometimes chronically sick people are not able to do a lot of physical activity, but are able to do the bare minimum. We are looking for someone that has experience in Physical Therapy or who was once a fitness instructor.

Office volunteers to provide assistance with the day-to-day operations. Volunteers are needed to help answer phones, prepare mailings, do computer work, make phone calls, work on on-going projects and assist with special projects.
